MAKE YOUR DISPLAY TABLE STEP BY STEp

A unique composition made with pieces of kitchenware is displayed under the glass top of this do it yourself side table. Place it in the living room if you want to create a charming, very original corner. We teach you how to do it step by step.

This display table is perfect for displaying the objects in your collection: spoons, keychains, postcards or pipes. They deserve a special place, visible to everyone. We suggest making a versatile and very decorative piece: a side table décor with a top with a background on which to show them off. We explain step by step how to assemble it.

Materials (all in Leroy Merlin):
- An 80 x 40 cm MDF board
- 240 x 3.8 cm wooden strip
- 4 wooden legs
- 4 wheels (two of them with brakes)
- 4 washers and 4 nuts
- Methacrylate sheet
- Wallpaper and wallpaper glue
- Paint, brushes and white glue
- Drill machine
- Jigsaw

HOW IS IT DONE?

1. Cut the 4 sides of the envelope, the ones that will give it volume. Measure the long sides of the board that will be the base and cut two strips of the ribbon. Place them on the rectangular board and measure the gap left on the short sides. Cut two more strips of that size from the ribbon.

2. Lightly sand the edges of the 4 slats and glue them to the base board at the edge with carpenter's glue. Let dry well.

3. Mark with a pencil on the board the points where the legs will be placed. Before placing them, secure the wheels to the end of each leg with screws.

4. Make holes in the board with a drill press and attach the legs. To do this, place the leg under the board and secure it inside the envelope with a nut and a washer, for greater support.

5. Paint the table in the color you want. Here a lilac tone has been used for the exterior and another cream tone for the interior. Wallpaper the surface of the board (measure and cut a rectangle).

6. Measure the rectangle of the envelope, inside the edges to cut the methacrylate sheet (you can also order a glass from a glazier). Keep in mind that the measurement is internal, the methacrylate does not rest on the edges, but remains inside.

7. Before placing the methacrylate sheet, cut some blocks from the wooden strip that are practically the height of the edge except for the thickness of the methacrylate (a few millimeters). You need 6 blocks, two at one end, two at the opposite and two in the center of the table (you can glue them to the edges for greater security). Now you can place the iron on top without it sinking and allowing your collection to be displayed inside.

Tip: You can do this same idea, on a smaller scale, with box-type frames. Inside them you can display your collection of thimbles, medals from popular races or booties and children's clothing.
